Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Coding Auditor and Education Specialist to join our team at ProMedica Health System. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing training, audit, and billing education services to our providers. Your expertise in medical service documentation and coding will ensure that our services conform to guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate educational plans that encompass accurate documentation, coding, and billing procedures based on specialty.
  • Provide regular audits of provider documentation/coding accuracy, summarize information, and make suggestions to improve processes.
  • Recognize inaccurate dictation and documentation trends and issues, and collaborate with the office manager/operations director, physicians, and staff to correct.
  • Provide scheduled educational seminars regarding coding/billing updates and changes.
  • Work with providers one-on-one to facilitate accurate documentation and coding.
  • Provide coding education to billing staff, as needed.
  • Work with the billing manager in the coordination of appeals to obtain appropriate and/or additional reimbursement.
  • Communicate and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with the billing manager, operations director, physicians, and staff.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of coding experience with physicians, including experience performing physician coding audits.
  • Extensive experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Certification in CPC, RHIT, RHIA, CPMA, CEMC, or CCC.
