Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead the Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health. As a key member of the NYC Health Department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to improve the health and well-being of Brooklyn residents.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Support the Assistant Commissioner with strategic planning, program development, and oversight of bureau programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee unit directors to ensure scopes of work align with agency, division, and bureau goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with unit directors to identify external funding sources to support program growth or develop innovative programs aligned with COVID recovery and community engagement.
  • Coordinate and prepare reports on bureau activities and initiatives, with specific attention to accomplishments.
  • Collaborate with city, state, and federal agencies, community-based organizations, and other experts to advance the mission of the bureau.

**Requirements**

  • A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business, or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research, or program evaluation; personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or a related area.
  • 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative, or supervisory capacity, with supervision of staff performing professional work in the areas described above.
