About the Role

The City of Salem, OR is seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing expert guidance to plant personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and schedule the work of subordinates to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Coordinate and administer all aspects of operations, including maintenance needs and service contracts.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and proper handling of equipment in work areas.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and provide expertise to optimize operations and plant performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and apply Union contract, City administrative rules, and treatment plant policies in the supervision of plant personnel.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Oregon Wastewater Treatment Operator Grade IV certification.
  • Ability to work graveyard shift, occasional other shifts, and participate in a weekly rotation for on-call supervisor duties.
About Our Facilities

The City of Salem's wastewater is treated at two facilities, the Willow Lake Water Pollution Control Facility and the River Road Peak Wet Weather Treatment Facility. Willow Lake is the main treatment facility for the City, with a design average dry weather flow of 35 MGD and a peak wet weather capacity of 155 MGD.
