About this Role:

The Department of Health Care Services is seeking a highly skilled Research Data Specialist I to join our team in the Capitated Rates Development Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing research and analyses in support of major projects related to the Medi-Cal Managed Care program and the Medi-Cal Local Assistance Estimate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and utilize research methodology and techniques to analyze data and provide insights to support the development of managed care capitation rates.
  • Perform and review analysis to support actuaries setting managed care rates, as well as ad-hoc budgetary calculations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address data gaps and inconsistencies.
  • Develop and maintain databases and data systems to support research and analysis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as data science, statistics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in research and analysis, preferably in a healthcare or government setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
