Position Overview

The California Department of Public Health is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Lead Research Analyst for Vendor Management. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the mission and strategic objectives of the department by enhancing the health and welfare of California's diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be part of the Data and Integrity Branch, contributing to a team that gathers, evaluates, and utilizes data, research, and policies to optimize the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and its stakeholders, including local agencies and vendors.

Under the guidance of the Chief of Vendor Analysis, Research, and Evaluation (VARE) Section, the Lead Research Analyst will:

  • Develop and implement advanced statistical models to assess vendor management practices and analyze food expenditure and utilization patterns.
  • Support the WIC Division in the creation, monitoring, and evaluation of the WIC program through sophisticated statistical analyses and research initiatives.
  • Act as a scientific and technical authority for research personnel within the branch.
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Master's or Doctoral Degree to meet the minimum qualifications. Those with a Master's Degree will receive a 2% educational pay differential, while those with a Doctoral Degree will receive a 3% differential. Candidates with both degrees will be eligible for only one differential.

Knowledge and Experience

Ideal candidates will have experience in:

  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting diverse data sets.
  • Leading projects or teams effectively.
  • Applying social and behavioral research methodologies.

Knowledge of data-driven decision-making techniques and government assistance programs will be advantageous.
