Job Description

The Distribution Center Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our distribution center. This position is responsible for coordinating and preparing all outgoing shipments, ensuring order accuracy, and maintaining good customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in distribution, logistics, and customer service, with a strong focus on leadership and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the distribution operations and develop the DC team to ensure team cohesion and effectiveness in offering prompt and accurate customer service.
  • Lead and implement Lean and 5S projects to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and promote Health & Safety and Human Resources initiatives.
  • Actively participate in the implementation of SAP and assist in the development of the operating budget.
  • Use Continuous Improvement principles to make operations more efficient while improving customer service.
  • Ensure that the DC follows all internal practices and procedures, including the TMS, C-TPAT program, and company standards.
  • Coordinate repairs and purchases for the DC in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager and/or Operations Maintenance Manager.
  • This is a working management position that requires performing all daily operational activities, including receiving, stocking, cycle counts, picking, packing, and loading.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:

Safety is our top priority. The Distribution Center Coordinator will ensure that all employees under their supervision follow all appropriate safety guidelines, including OSHA requirements and physical PPE. They will also ensure that all new hires are assigned to work under appropriate supervision and receive proper instruction on health and safety procedures.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Completion of a college diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience in distribution, logistics, and/or customer service.
  • Positive leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in an RF environment.
  • Knowledge of International Shipments and HAZMAT requirements.
  • Experience working/managing in a unionized environment.

Working Conditions:

This is a working management position that requires performing all daily operational activities, including receiving, stocking, cycle counts, picking, packing, and loading. The position also performs all office activities, including receivers, scheduling pick-ups and deliveries, bills of lading, filing, managing pertinent Infoflo reports, and completing daily/weekly/monthly reports for the Logistics Department.

The incumbent understands, respects, and adheres to the workplace health and safety rules and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Distribution Center Coordinator will ensure that safe working conditions exist in those areas under their direct control and ensure workers perform their duties without undue risk. They will also take immediate action to correct any unsafe work conditions, methods, practices, procedures, or equipment faults or defects.

Key Relationships:

The Distribution Center Coordinator will collaborate with peers in Sales, Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Demand & Supply Planning on a regular basis and speak to the Sales and Operational Plan. They will also maintain strong working relationships with key raw material vendors.
