Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for creating and disseminating information to the public, media, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to meet agency goals and objectives.
  • Ensure all content meets policy compliance and accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop messages and materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Organize and coordinate information for senior staff and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical writing and editing support for a variety of communication products.
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience in a related field, including experience in communication, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience in creating communication products, such as press releases, media advisories, and social media content.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise language.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a government agency or non-profit organization.
  • Knowledge of government policies and procedures.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Ability to travel overnight for work-related activities.
