As a Research Fellow, you will work autonomously while collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator and fellow Research Scientists. Your role will involve executing both routine and advanced laboratory techniques throughout your training period. You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting research data, and may also assist in the development of grant proposals. Participation in scholarly publications and presentations as an author or co-author is encouraged, although you will not be tasked with securing grant funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the formulation of grant proposals, without the obligation to secure funding.
- Engage in the preparation of publications and presentations as an author or co-author.
- Design and conduct experiments, maintaining accurate experimental records and documentation while analyzing results in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
- Develop, modify, and implement innovative research methodologies and protocols.
- Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile research data.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
Qualifications
A Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in a field directly related to your research specialization is required.
Licenses:
No specific licenses or certifications are necessary.
Experience:
Experience or interest in genitourinary cancers, particularly urinary bladder cancer, is preferred. You will work independently on research initiatives designed by a mentor (typically the Principal Investigator) within your area of expertise. A thorough understanding of the technical and theoretical aspects of your research project will be developed during your post-doctoral appointment, which typically lasts from one to five years. You should demonstrate proficiency in executing experimental protocols, including detailed data collection, analysis, and the operation and maintenance of specialized equipment. Familiarity with safety standards and the upkeep of specialized instruments is essential.
Physical Requirements:
This position is situated in a laboratory environment. Candidates should be capable of performing moderate lifting, and must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. The ability to read documents and operate standard office equipment is necessary, along with the physical ability and visual acuity to effectively perform essential job functions.
