We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA). The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology or virology and a proven track record of conducting independent research.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. Grace Aldrovandi, focusing on HIV-1 infection, the microbiome, and multi-omic investigations.
- Develop and implement new research projects, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate with other researchers and scientists to advance our understanding of HIV-1 and its impact on human health.
- Provide mentorship and teaching to other members of the lab, including PhD and MD students, post-docs, undergraduate students, and summer students.
- Participate in laboratory and Divisional seminars, meetings, educational sessions, and other training sessions.
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Virology, or a related field, awarded within the past 5 years.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology and common laboratory approaches in molecular biology.
- Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and quickly adapt to new tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with computational and experimental scientists.
- Ability to function independently in the laboratory.
- Experience in PCR, cloning, Next-Generation Sequencing.
- Experience in automation with liquid handlers.
- Working knowledge of laboratory notebook management and data management.
- Ability to work with human pathogens and human samples, including blood, stool, urine, saliva, cervicovaginal lavage samples, and more.
- A competitive salary range of $64,480 - $77,327.
