Position Overview

The Financial Policy Analyst role is crafted for professional growth and offers exposure to various functions within the Finance division.

This position will be part of the Accounting Policy, SOX, and Data Management team, while also collaborating with other sectors of the department, including SEC Reporting and Accounting Operations.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting Policy: Support the organization in adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) by aiding in the formulation of accounting policies and transaction interpretations.

Prepare specific technical accounting journal entries and conduct monthly account reconciliations, including relevant reporting in SEC filings, such as the Allowance for Credit Losses.

SOX Compliance: Assist in evaluating internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).

Data Management: Contribute to the Finance department's adherence to risk management standards and best practices concerning data governance.


Primary Success Factors

Accounting Policy:
Maintain an up-to-date Bank Accounting Policy Manual, including the research, interpretation, and application of new GAAP and other regulations.

Conduct research on accounting literature applicable to new products, transactions, and accounting challenges.

Draft accounting memoranda regarding new accounting pronouncements and their implications for the organization.

Provide technical support on accounting and reporting matters.

Independently present insights and updates on emerging accounting issues for discussions with senior management.

Assist in preparing intricate sections of financial statement footnotes and Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) included in SEC filings, while comprehending SEC reporting rules and regulations.


SOX Compliance:
Support the execution of key control tests and assist in the development and maintenance of SOX internal control documentation.
Data Management:

Help in creating a Finance department data management strategy and ensure compliance with risk management standards by establishing frameworks and policies.

SEC Reporting:
Assist in various aspects of the SEC reporting process, including reviewing the Financial Statement Disclosure Checklist and utilizing the Workiva Wdesk platform, our SEC reporting tool.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or Internal Audit is required.

CPA certification is preferred.

Ability to research and assess accounting policies and transactions; proficient knowledge of GAAP.

Familiarity with SEC reporting requirements, including provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Financial reporting expertise, including a solid understanding of financial statements and reporting obligations.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated analytical capabilities.

Ability to analyze and interpret data flows.

Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Preferred knowledge of the financial services industry.
