Position Overview: The EHS Compliance Specialist is entrusted with overseeing environmental, health, and safety adherence and program management at the Southwire North Campus Plant. This role demands regulatory expertise to ensure that all applicable regulations are understood and implemented effectively. The specialist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing EHS initiatives within the facility, while also monitoring operations to guarantee compliance with both regulatory and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all management and relevant operational personnel are informed about current and upcoming regulatory obligations.
- Assist in developing processes that identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Provide and track training programs to meet OSHA compliance requirements.
- Offer industrial hygiene support to evaluate employee exposure to noise and other health risks.
- Oversee mandatory air, water, and waste compliance monitoring activities, including DOT regulations.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive chemical inventory systems to meet regulatory tracking needs.
- Conduct training sessions for staff regarding EHS policies, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline or a related field relevant to health, safety, and environmental practices.
- A minimum of three years of experience in industrial health, safety, and environmental roles.
- Familiarity with the VPP process and various safety regulations or standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.).
- Professional certification is preferred.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours or shifts as required.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
