Job Overview:

The Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance Specialist plays a pivotal role in overseeing environmental, health, and safety adherence and program administration for a level 1 site. This position provides essential regulatory knowledge to ensure that all applicable regulations are understood and followed. The specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing EHS initiatives at the facility while monitoring operations to guarantee compliance with both regulatory and corporate standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough data analysis to identify opportunities for proactive enhancements within the designated value stream and ensure successful implementation of action plans.
  • Offer leadership and support for the establishment and sustainability of compliance programs and EHS management systems, including ISO, OHSAS, and VPP.
  • Direct efforts to develop and implement processes for identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplace hazards in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversee EHS investigations, perform root cause analyses, and formulate corrective actions for incidents such as near misses, injuries, illnesses, and environmental events within the defined value stream.
  • Manage regulatory documentation, reporting, and case management tasks for the defined value stream and level 1 facility.
  • Facilitate and monitor training for all relevant personnel concerning health, safety, and environmental policies, practices, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Administer the documentation and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), both leading and lagging, for the designated value stream.
  • Lead compliance assurance activities related to air, water, and waste management, including inspections and reporting, within the facility.
  • Ensure that Southwire's EHS policies and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Act as the Emergency Response Coordinator for the facility, coordinating emergency services and contractors, which includes being on call 24/7.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field pertinent to health, safety, and environmental disciplines.
  • A minimum of 9 years of experience in industrial health, safety, and environmental roles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various safety regulations and standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.).
  • Professional certification is preferred.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours or shifts as necessary.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
