Library Services Coordinator

Virginia Community Colleges is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Coordinator of Library Services. This position is responsible for the management of the campus library and supports the diverse information needs of students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:- Collection Development and Management: Ensure that the library provides resources and services to support new and existing educational programs of the college and to advocate for the goals and objectives of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).
- Information Literacy and Instruction: Work with college faculty to develop workshops and other programs that produce information-literate students and lifelong learners; provide bibliographic instruction and research skills for students, faculty and staff, and community patrons upon request.
- Leadership and Supervision: Manage and actively participate in the daily operations of the library, including staff scheduling and supervision.
- Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Develop long-range plans and goals for the enhancement of services, resources, and facilities and ensure that those plans align with departmental goals and the college's mission; prepare an annual plan with budget recommendations to support these departmental goals and the college's mission.
- Communication and Community Engagement: Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty & staff, and other stakeholders important to the college; work effectively in a team environment with a customer service focus.
- Technical Services and Collection Maintenance: Purchase needed library supplies, equipment, licenses, and subscriptions using business office and/or procurement agency policies and procedures; identify improvements needed in the library facility and equipment needs.
- Professional Development and Training: Provide opportunities in training for new and existing staff in customer service, library management systems, instructional design, information literacy, cataloging and technical services, and circulation/reference desk duties.
- Marketing and Promotion: Keep faculty and staff informed of available services and resources; promote library resources and services as a vital part of the college to students, faculty and staff, and community patrons through traditional and electronic methods.
- Education: MLS or MSIS in Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited program.
- Experience: Full-time professional experience in a library setting.
- Additional Considerations: Academic library experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, in-depth knowledge of current computer, instructional, and information technology, experience in a supervisory role.
