We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Coordinator, Construction to join our team at DC Water. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and contractors within our campuses and operations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular safety inspections of the DC Water workplace to identify hazards, potential risks, and areas for improvement.
- Implement safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide safety training to employees on topics such as proper equipment usage, emergency procedures, and hazard recognition.
- Develop and maintain safety manuals, guidelines, and instructional materials to support training initiatives.
- Assist with investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety improvement initiatives and programs.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety measures and adjust policies and procedures as necessary.
- Maintain records and documentation related to safety inspections, training sessions, and incident investigations.
- Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss concerns, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in occupational health and safety.
- Five (5) years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and engage operational employees.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ANSI).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Data analysis and report generation from safety risk systems.
- Experience in conducting safety inspections and hazard risk reduction mitigation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- OSHA 30-Hour General or Construction Industry Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
