Position Overview

Summary:

The Field Engineering division is responsible for monitoring product performance in real-world applications and leveraging that expertise to deliver engineering assistance to clients, the sales team, tire design engineers, and manufacturing staff across Yokohama's global network. The role involves significant travel, with approximately 50% of the time dedicated to visiting client sites within the United States to assess the utilization and performance of Yokohama products. The remaining time is allocated to planning field assessments, analyzing claims and test data, reporting findings, and offering technical support to both internal and external stakeholders. Field engineers operate autonomously with strategic guidance from management, receiving oversight and leadership from the VP of Marketing and product management teams.

The selected candidate will primarily focus on Agricultural (AG), Off-The-Road (OTR), and/or Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) tires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical assistance to field sales personnel and clients in the United States.
  • Design, execute, and document outcomes of field investigations.
  • Examine test and claim data to communicate tire performance insights to relevant parties.
  • Identify product enhancement opportunities and advocate for necessary modifications.
  • Assist in organizing, planning, and conducting training sessions for sales teams and clients.
  • Assess usage and maintenance conditions to provide product recommendations aimed at enhancing performance.
  • Support the development and guidance of junior field engineers.
  • Represent Yokohama in industry associations and standardization organizations.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical and technical skills with practical capabilities.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Experience in the commercial vehicle sector and/or tire products or automotive industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, data-driven, self-starter, and well-organized.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or science is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3-5+ years of applicable field engineering experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Capability to physically handle heavy tires, perform tire analysis, manage large tire sections, and proficiently use tools and relevant equipment.
  • Experience in data analysis and technical report writing.
