Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced transportation professional to join our team as a Virginia Tech Bus Driver. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for safely transporting faculty, staff, students, and visitors on various charter trips in Virginia Tech passenger buses, vans, and other state vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport passengers on various charter trips in Virginia Tech passenger buses, vans, and other state vehicles
  • Load and unload luggage, maintain trip logs, and assist individuals with disabilities
  • Fuel and clean the vehicle, and notify the shop supervisor of any maintenance issues or concerns
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher, with passenger and air brake endorsements
  • DOT medical certification
  • Successful completion of pre-employment criminal conviction, driving records, and drug test background checks
  • Experience operating large motorized vehicles, such as passenger buses
  • Experience transporting passengers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating a charter/passenger bus and/or large passenger vans
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Familiarity with Virginia Tech campus

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as the ability to safely operate a passenger bus and other vehicles.
