Job Title: Paralegal | Mortgage | Settlement Services

The Paralegal is a key member of the Settlement Services Team at Superus Careers. This role involves supporting a team of attorneys in crafting and monitoring policies & procedures that mitigate risk to the company, ensuring all operations align with established best practices, laws, regulations, and corporate standards. The Paralegal will also review and analyze title to real property, assist attorneys in title and underwriting, regulatory compliance functions, and implement and enforce American Land Title Association (ALTA) best practices, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:Title & Underwriting
  • Assist in the review and analysis of title-related questions to ensure accurate and timely responses.
  • Interact with title insurance underwriters to resolve title insurability and marketability issues.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve title insurance claims to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to mitigate risk and ensure clear and marketable title in connection with real estate acquisitions.
  • Monitor changes to title insurance underwriter requirements/standards and communicate such changes to affected employees and departments.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Support Underwriting & Regulatory Compliance to ensure Full-Service Operations and Partner Operations comply with all applicable federal, state, and corporate regulations.
  • Track and maintain required certificates of insurance, operating licenses, and bonds for all Full-Service Operations and Partner Operations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes and updates to best practice policies & standards in the industry and communicate such changes.
  • Prepare and maintain reports necessary for compliance with ALTA Best Practices and underwriting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Operations
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of Community Disclosures with outside local counsel and Homebuilder Divisions.
  • Participate in the bi-annual review of Purchase Agreements and other required documents for Homebuilder Divisions.
  • Coordinate subpoena responses as needed.
Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of professional work experience.
  • Prior contract, real estate, and title industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
