Position Overview

The role involves enhancing our capacity to monitor and counteract emerging fraud threats within MECU, particularly focusing on video surveillance systems.

Act as a liaison with our external fraud resolution partners, providing support and guidance to our E Services Team and Card Services Department.

Work Environment

This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters. The incumbent will be expected to work on-site, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule after a specified period.
Educational Requirements

High School Diploma – Required
General Education Degree (GED) – acceptable in lieu of H.S. Diploma
Experience Requirements

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years in the Financial Services sector
Two (2) years in Risk Management or Fraud detection
Associate's Degree in Business or Criminal Justice is preferred
Key Qualifications

- Detail-oriented with a keen understanding of industry fraud trends
- Previous experience in fraud detection or investigations
- Strong communication skills to convey investigation results to external stakeholders
- Availability for flexible hours and responsiveness to incidents
- Ability to make critical decisions in emergency situations
- Proficient in writing detailed incident reports
Essential Responsibilities


The individual will share the primary responsibility with team members for overseeing MECU's ITM/ATM surveillance systems to identify potential skimming activities.

This role requires active collaboration with Valera, our third-party fraud resolution team, and assistance with various fraud-related issues.

The incumbent will work closely with other members of the Fraud and Security Department to ensure that unusual ITM/ATM transactions are thoroughly reviewed to prevent illegal activities, such as money laundering through compromised cards.

The individual will investigate suspicious ATM transactions reported by third-party vendors, which may involve MECU cards used at various terminals.

Monitor non-card financial transactions to trace instances of theft, forgery, and other financial crimes.

Take appropriate actions based on positive fraud detections by adhering to established procedures and policies.

Identify trends from previously reported card losses to pinpoint potential compromise locations.

Stay informed about emerging fraud trends and educate team members on processes, updating them as necessary to adapt to evolving schemes.

This position will require cross-training with other team members to ensure coverage during absences.

This role may involve flexible hours, including weekends, and requires readiness to respond to suspected breaches.

Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this position, the successful candidate is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, keyboards, or controls; talk and hear.

The employee may occasionally stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel.

Must regularly lift and/or move files and equipment up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25-pound objects.

Specific vision characteristics required include close vision, adjusting focus, and viewing a computer screen for extended periods.
