Position Overview

The role involves augmenting our team to oversee and address emerging fraud threats within MECU, with a specific focus on video monitoring. The incumbent will collaborate with our external fraud resolution partners, providing support and guidance to our E Services Team and Card Services Department.

Work Environment

This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule after an initial period.

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma – Required
  • General Education Degree (GED) – acceptable in lieu of a high school diploma

Experience Requirements

  • Three (3) to five (5) years in the Financial Services sector
  • Two (2) years in Risk Management or Fraud
  • Associate's Degree in Business or Criminal Justice is preferred

Candidate Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for discrepancies
  • Familiarity with current industry fraud trends
  • Previous experience in fraud detection or investigative roles
  • Strong communication skills for reporting findings to external stakeholders
  • Availability for flexible working hours and emergency responses
  • Ability to make sound decisions in urgent situations
  • Proficient in drafting detailed incident reports

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor MECU's ITM/ATM surveillance systems to identify potential skimming activities.
  • Act as a liaison with our external fraud resolution team to assist in various fraud-related matters.
  • Collaborate with Fraud and Security Department colleagues to review unusual ITM/ATM transactions and ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Investigate suspicious ATM transactions flagged by third-party vendors.
  • Track non-card financial transactions to uncover theft or forgery incidents.
  • Implement appropriate actions when fraud is detected, adhering to established protocols.
  • Analyze trends from previous card losses to identify potential compromise locations.
  • Review daily reports for unusual transactions and stay informed about emerging fraud tactics.
  • Participate in cross-training with team members to enhance overall department functionality.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours, including weekends, and respond to potential security breaches.

Physical Requirements

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this role, the successful candidate will frequently be required to sit, use hands for various tasks, and communicate effectively. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be necessary.

Regular lifting of files and equipment up to 15 pounds is expected, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision and the ability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods.
