Position Overview

The role involves providing additional personnel to monitor and counteract emerging fraud threats within MECU, particularly focusing on video surveillance.

This position will serve as a liaison with our third-party fraud resolution partners, offering guidance and support to our E Services Team and Card Services Department.

Work Environment

This role is based at the Corporate Headquarters. The incumbent will be required to work on-site initially, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule after a designated period.Education Requirements

High School Diploma – Required
General Education Degree (GED) – acceptable in lieu of a High School Diploma
Experience Requirements

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years in the Financial Services sector
At least two (2) years in Risk Management or Fraud
Associates Degree in Business or Criminal Justice is preferred
Key Qualifications

- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of industry fraud trends
- Prior experience in fraud detection or investigations
- Excellent communication skills for conveying investigation results to external parties
- Flexibility to work varied hours and respond to incidents as needed
- Ability to make decisions in emergency situations
- Proficient in writing detailed incident reports
Essential Responsibilities


The individual will share primary responsibilities with team members for monitoring MECU's ITM/ATM surveillance systems to identify potential skimming activities.

This position requires active collaboration with Valera, our third-party fraud resolution team, and assistance with various fraud-related issues.

The individual will work closely with other members of the Fraud and Security Department to ensure that unusual ITM/ATM transactions are thoroughly reviewed to prevent illegal activities, such as money laundering.

The role includes investigating suspicious ATM transactions reported by third-party vendors and monitoring non-card financial transactions to trace theft or forgery.

Proactive measures must be taken when fraud is detected, following established procedures and policies.

Identifying trends through previously reported card losses will help determine potential compromise locations.

Daily monitoring of HELOC and FICO suspect reports for unusual transactions is required.

Staying informed about emerging fraud trends and educating team members on processes is essential to adapt to changing schemes.

This individual will cross-train with other team members to become familiar with various fraud functions, ensuring coverage during absences.

This position may require flexible hours, including weekends, and responding to suspected machine breaches.

Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this position, the successful candidate will regularly need to sit, use hands and fingers for handling objects, tools, keyboards, or controls, and communicate effectively.

Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and kneeling may be required.

Regular lifting/moving of files and equipment up to 15 pounds and occasional lifting/moving of up to 25 pounds is expected.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods.
