About the Role

SMU is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our IT Help Desk team as a Technical Support Professional. This role involves providing technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff of the University in relation to technology questions and problems reported.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to technology questions and problems encountered via help desk channels.
  • Participate in career development activities to expand knowledge through technical and professional training.
  • Provide front-line support in person, on the phone, and through chat or ticket requests.
  • Troubleshoot and triage computer hardware and software issues, load software, configure computer software, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Support a large number of applications and possess experience with basic application support for specialized applications.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of work experience in desk computer support and customer experience via phone (both MAC & PC Platforms) is required.
  • Strong customer service skills, excellent troubleshooting, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
  • A solid understanding of SMU supported software applications (Microsoft Operating System and Office Suite, Apple Operating system standard applications, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and other applications deployed on the SMU campus) is preferred.
