Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting and protecting the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas counties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a wide range of public health nursing services, including family planning, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, immunizations, well women, child health, and breast exams.
  • Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of populations.
  • Identify high-risk populations and tailor interventions based on the needs of the population and the resources available.
  • Provide treatments, administer medication/vaccines, and provide preventive and maintenance care to patients/families consistent with care plans and/or physician treatment plans.
  • Screen and refer clients to other community service providers.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one year, or a Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.
  • One year of PHN experience for RN 2 and RN 3 positions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Some public health and infectious disease experience helpful.
  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands

This position does not require a lot of physical exertion. May require some lifting, but no more than 50 lbs. Not always a sedentary position; will require some walking to/from and in/out chair. It does require flexibility of working in various areas of the clinic when necessary, and some outreach.

Confidentiality and precise data entry is a must. Punctuality and assigned work schedule.
