Position Overview:

Under guidance, engages in diverse responsibilities while delivering exceptional service in the management of a historic and recreational park; interprets the natural attributes of the region, and upholds public safety by enforcing park regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Outdoor Engagement & Programming:
    - Welcomes visitors; facilitates interpretive programs and may lead guided excursions.
    - Aids in the planning and execution of special events.
    - Provides information in response to visitor inquiries, directions, and concerns.
  • Customer Interaction and Communication:
    - Communicates through various channels to park management.
    - Delivers courteous service in person and over the phone, addressing public inquiries regarding park operations.
  • Financial Transactions:
    - Executes cashier responsibilities at the visitor center.
    - Collects and manages fees for park entry and merchandise.
    - Completes financial and visitation reporting.
  • Facility Maintenance:
    - Maintains campgrounds, picnic areas, trails, and recreational sites, including litter collection and trail upkeep.
    - Ensures all facilities are safe, clean, and well-stocked.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    - Promotes visitor safety and enforces park regulations.
    - Conducts patrols to identify maintenance and safety issues.
    - Responds to incidents and injuries, utilizing communication systems.
  • - Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:
- Outdoor recreation management, environmental education, and park operations. Customer service principles, safety protocols, and public relations practices. Emergency response procedures and first aid training.

Skills in:
- Effective verbal and written communication, public speaking, and customer service. Critical thinking and conflict resolution techniques.

Ability to:
- Work independently in a dynamic environment. Collaborate with team members to foster a positive workplace culture. Interact effectively with a diverse range of visitors.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger Specialist; OR three years in customer service or related fields; OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver's license. Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician may be required.
