Position Overview
The Assistant Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and is expected to step into the superintendent's role during their absence. Under the guidance of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant will oversee and engage in the upkeep of the golf course's tees, greens, fairways, cart paths, roughs, and natural areas.
Relocation assistance is available.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and participate in the maintenance of the golf course, including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, roughs, natural grass areas, and cart paths.
- Assist in organizing daily tasks based on weather conditions and golf schedules.
- Support the training of Groundskeepers to enhance their skills and efficiency.
- Assist other superintendents in managing the crew and distributing daily work assignments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility within the departmental budget.
- Safely perform snow removal duties as needed.
- Keep accurate records of applications and labor for operations and projects.
- Apply sand, fertilizers, and pesticides safely and appropriately using spreaders and sprayers.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding turf care product usage, storage, cleanup, disposal, spill containment, and safety.
- Ensure all application equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Manage inventory levels of turf care products effectively.
- Utilize computer hardware and software related to applications, equipment, and golf course maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with personal protective equipment requirements as specified on product labels.
- Execute all tasks related to application activities, golf course setup, and maintenance as directed.
- Inspect all equipment and report any issues to the Equipment Manager.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals.
- Occasional exposure to wet and humid conditions, high places, extreme temperatures, and vibrations. The noise level is typically moderate to loud.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role and work effectively in a typical environment for this position.
- Must be capable of safely lifting 50-80 pounds, lifting overhead, pushing/pulling, climbing ladders, and maintaining balance on various surfaces.
- Must be able to work in diverse weather conditions.
