This role is integral to the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service within the Veterans Health Administration, focusing on the Orthotic & Prosthetic Clinical Service. The individual in this position will oversee the Central Fabrication Unit (CFU). The Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service Line operates as a cohesive system, providing essential services across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties Include:
  • Ensuring laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance while managing various administrative tasks such as budget formulation, resource allocation, and employee oversight.
  • Developing and implementing fabrication schedules for orthotic and prosthetic devices, while establishing both short-term and long-term objectives aligned with organizational directives.
  • Engaging with healthcare professionals and patients to formulate comprehensive treatment plans, particularly for complex cases requiring specialized knowledge.
  • Providing ongoing assessments to ensure optimal fit and functionality of devices supplied to patients.
  • Overseeing the work of technicians and ensuring adherence to certification standards.
  • Delivering educational sessions to medical staff regarding advancements in orthotic and prosthetic technologies.
  • Maintaining compliance with all relevant policies and regulations regarding human resources and patient care.
  • Participating in continuous professional development through training and education.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Education: A degree in orthotics and prosthetics from an accredited program or equivalent qualifications.
  • Board Certification: Must be certified by recognized boards in the field.
Preferred Experience: Dual certification in prosthetics and orthotics is advantageous.
