Position Overview:
The Intravenous Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting the IV Manager with the operational functions of the Infusion department. This position demands strict adherence to the organization's quality standards, customer service protocols, and compliance with both state and federal regulations. Familiarity with elastomeric pumps is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compounding IV prescriptions, which includes preparing IV medications, accurately calculating dosages, and implementing all necessary sterile procedures.
  • Dispatching supplies and equipment to healthcare facilities.
  • Keeping precise records of IV compounding activities.
  • Conducting routine cleaning and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Programming infusion pumps for patient use.
  • Documenting data for all relevant IV prescriptions.
  • Ordering inventory from various suppliers.
  • Executing additional tasks as assigned.
  • Completing technician duties as directed by pharmacy leadership.
  • Maintaining an inventory log for all IV pharmacy-related equipment and supplies.
  • Actively participating in the assessment and enhancement of client services, policies, and procedures.
  • Assisting in the enforcement of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Engaging in special initiatives aimed at recognizing and implementing operational enhancements.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues in a constructive manner, anticipating and addressing the responsibilities of the role.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Current National/State Pharmacy Certification is required.
  • Basic computer literacy and skills are essential.
  • Fundamental understanding of medical terminology, mathematics, and analytical abilities.
  • Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred, especially with sterile compounding.
  • Effective communication skills in both verbal and written English are necessary.

As an Intravenous Pharmacy Technician on the 3rd shift, you will be an integral member of the healthcare team, applying your core competencies in long-term care pharmacy, critical care, and IV infusion to deliver exceptional patient care.
