Pharmacy Technician II - Infusion Therapy
The Pharmacy Technician at Nationwide Children's Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists by managing a variety of essential tasks related to medication delivery for home care patients. This position involves the preparation of sterile intravenous solutions and injectables, as well as ensuring the maintenance of adequate inventory levels of medical supplies in the home setting. The technician is responsible for demonstrating competencies as outlined in the Pharmacy Technician responsibilities, providing care tailored to patients from infancy through young adulthood, and select adult patients.
Schedule: (Full-Time, Benefits Eligible)
Monday to Friday - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Responsibilities
- Maintain certification as a pharmacy technician, preparing intravenous admixtures and injectables under the supervision of a pharmacist. Complete initial and competency assessments, including hand hygiene documentation.
- Ensure cleanliness and compliance of the IV preparation area and pharmacy equipment in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
- Reconstitute and compound injectable and intravenous medications using aseptic techniques, adhering to labeling and control procedures.
- Pick and pack medications and supplies for home infusion therapy, ensuring accurate documentation prior to delivery.
- Monitor and manage home inventory of medications and supplies, coordinating delivery through appropriate channels.
- Assist in maintaining an updated medication list within the electronic medical record.
- Participate in continuous quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Share on-call responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Licensure:
- Valid Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified). A valid driver's license with proof of insurance is required.
Certifications:
- Certification by PTCP or ExCPT.
Skills:
- Experience in aseptic compounding of sterile products, particularly in homecare or hospital IV compounding, is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20kg regularly.
- Frequent use of a computer keyboard and occasional verbal communication.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, or climb as needed.
