Position Title: Full-Time Certified Parent Peer Specialist
Work Unit: IC3
Immediate Supervisors: Angie Williams and Meranda Bice
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must be a parent or guardian of a youth or young adult diagnosed with a mental health condition. Additionally, candidates should possess either:
- A High School Diploma or GED along with three years of experience in a related social services role,
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant social services field, or
- One year of experience in a comparable lower-level position.
Key Responsibilities:
Under varying levels of supervision, the Certified Parent Peer Specialist (CPS-P) is responsible for delivering peer support services to a designated group of youth aged 5 to 20 and their families enrolled in IC3 services. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with other team members and participating in team meetings.
- Advocating for youth and providing essential information and peer support across diverse settings.
- Maintaining regular contact with each individual on the caseload, ensuring comprehensive documentation.
- Attending collaborative meetings with staff and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care.
- Assisting in crisis response situations.
Essential Competencies:
- Customer Service: Ability to deliver courteous, accessible, and knowledgeable service to youth and families.
- Recovery Support: Understanding of the recovery process and utilizing personal recovery experiences to assist others.
- Relationship Building: Skill in establishing supportive and healing relationships.
- Accountability: Knowledge of policies and procedures, completing all required professional development training.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Results Orientation: Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), report completion, and maintaining productivity standards.
- Judgment and Decision Making: Understanding of eligibility criteria and crisis intervention protocols.
Agency-Specific Duties:
- Manage a caseload of up to 25 youth in IC3 services, focusing on supporting parents and caregivers.
- Provide life skills training to youth with psychosis and/or dual diagnoses from a peer perspective.
- Ensure efficient documentation practices, meeting monthly contact requirements and maintaining billable productivity.
- Collaborate with treatment teams, acting as a liaison between various agencies and linking individuals to external resources.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions, assist with crisis response, and engage in team meetings and family interactions.
- Employ problem-solving techniques to support vocational choices and enhance social skills among individuals.
- Stay informed about current trends and developments in the mental health sector.
