The Center for Justice Innovation is a community-driven organization that focuses on creating safer, more just communities through innovative solutions. As a Research Assistant in our Firearms Violence Prevention team, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission by conducting research, analyzing data, and developing strategies to address firearms violence in urban settings.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to assist with the development of a best practices scan on firearms violence prevention and intervention models. The ideal candidate will have prior experience conducting literature reviews, interviews, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Assisting with the development of a best practices scan on firearms violence prevention and intervention models, including:
  2. Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing findings;
  3. Developing interview instruments and conducting interviews with community stakeholders;
  4. Typing up notes from site visits and organizing data;
  5. Providing qualitative data analysis support;

**Additional Responsibilities**: The successful candidate will also be required to perform other tasks as necessary to support the research team.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • An advanced degree (e.g., Master's degree or Ph.D.) or be in pursuit of such a degree, plus a minimum of one year of work experience in a related field;
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience conducting literature reviews, interviews, and data analysis;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a range of community stakeholders;
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of autonomy and self-motivation;

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $30.00 per hour, based on a 35-hour work week. The position is temporary, part-time, and requires approximately 10-15 hours of work per week. Travel may be required throughout Maryland. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
