We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for providing financial guidance and support to department managers, ensuring accurate and timely financial data, and leading the accounting and financial processes to maximize efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain strong relationships with department managers to coordinate and monitor financial controls over the organization's cost centers.
- Coordinate accounting and financial processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily accounting operations.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial data is submitted during the month-end process.
- Lead and coordinate month-end variance analysis and oversee general ledger reconciliations.
- Directly supervise and develop assigned accounting department staff.
- Coordinate other staff duties to accomplish department goals and objectives.
- Develop and submit analytical financial data as needed by department director/manager.
- Assist in completing and compiling financial support documentation for budget and external audit purposes.
- Support performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Three years of accounting experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical and interpretive skills, and ability to work with computer databases and spreadsheet software.
The successful candidate will work in an office environment, using a computer, answering the telephone, and utilizing other office equipment. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
