Job Title: Support Enforcement Specialist, Richmond

Join the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) as a Support Enforcement Specialist, Richmond, and play a vital role in ensuring that child support payments reach families across the Commonwealth. As a Support Enforcement Specialist, you will engage with parents who have payment obligations and those who depend on those payments, establishing and sustaining helping relationships to ensure financial and family support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Locate non-custodial parents and work with other state and country child support agencies to establish paternity and determine child support obligations.
  • Ensure parents comply with child and/or medical support orders through administrative and judicial enforcement actions.
  • Provide testimony in court proceedings when required and connect parents with resources and partners that support their ability to be self-sufficient and active participants in their child's lives.
Requirements:
  • Ability to interact with a diverse public in a service setting to tactfully solve problems, sometimes in difficult situations where conflict is encountered.
  • Ability to work independently, plan, organize, and handle multiple priorities in a case management/caseload setting.
  • Strong listening and negotiating skills combined with outstanding written and oral communications.
