Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Robeson County Local Government. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including removing and installing engines, transmissions, and differentials. You will also be responsible for performing department of motor vehicle inspections on heavy trucks, pickups, and trailers to ensure compliance with state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including removing and installing engines, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Perform department of motor vehicle inspections on heavy trucks, pickups, and trailers to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Repair and replace hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic pumps, tires, brake shoes, brake drums, wheel seals, brake chambers, and other related heavy equipment components.
  • Weld on trucks and other related heavy equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years' experience in fleet maintenance or industrial equipment repair.
  • Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required upon hire and duration of employment.
  • Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, and random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
  • Criminal background check required.
