We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Robeson County. As a key member of our Solid Waste Department, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our heavy equipment fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Perform skilled maintenance and repairs on operational heavy equipment, including removing and installing engines, transmissions, and differentials from garbage trucks and small trucks.
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of our equipment.
- Hydraulic System Repair: Repair or replace hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic pumps, and other related components.
- Brake System Repair: Replace or fix brake shoes, brake drums, wheel seals, brake chambers, and other related components.
- Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or replace equipment components.
- Inspections: Conduct Department of Motor Vehicle inspections on heavy trucks, pickups, and trailers to ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma and two years' experience in fleet maintenance or industrial equipment repair, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Commercial Driver's License: Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required upon hire and duration of employment.
- Background Check: Must pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, and submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
