As a member of the Telecare Family, Willow Rock operates as a 16-bed Psychiatric Health Facility in Alameda County, catering to adolescents aged 12-17 who are facing acute psychiatric challenges.
Shifts Available:
On Call; Shift Hours and Days vary as needed
Minimum Compensation is $23.19 Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY
Under supervision, the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist delivers rehabilitation therapy services to clients, both individually and in group settings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
B.A./B.S. in Occupational, Recreational, Music, Dance, Drama, or Art Therapy, Vocational Counseling, or a related field (Must comply with any regulatory requirements for the use of these titles, specific to the program type or location)
Six (6) months of experience in a behavioral health environment
Certification or licensure in the discipline may be required based on program licensure or accrediting body standards
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certification on the date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results from the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and verification of degree or license.
If driving is required for the position, a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance are mandatory at the time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrate the Telecare mission, purpose, values, and beliefs in everyday interactions with internal and external stakeholders
Coordinates and delivers rehabilitation treatment services for assigned clients, including leading and co-leading therapeutic groups, developing therapeutic activities, writing group descriptions, and scheduling therapeutic activities in collaboration with clients when feasible
Organizes outings for clients and supervises them during these activities; may involve driving a van for outings
Coordinates special events
Facilitates community meetings and group sessions
Provides clinical supervision for Rehabilitation Activity Leaders, interns, and volunteers, as directed
Participates in the planning of the Rehabilitation Program
Contributes to the development of Recovery Plans
Completes assigned sections of the Minimum Data Set (MDS), annual comprehensive assessments, and assessments that accompany changes in condition
Documents observations and assessments as required
Must assist with the restraint of clients in the event of aggressive behavior and successfully complete assault crisis/crisis prevention training
Additional duties and responsibilities may be added, removed, or modified at the discretion of management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, squat, kneel, push, pull, lift, and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less, as well as to frequently walk, stand, bend, twist, reach, and perform simple and power grasping.
The position requires manual dexterity, repetition, and coordination, as well as occasional driving and exposure to uneven walking surfaces.
