Position Type: This role is PRN (On-Call).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive activity assessments through patient observation and interviews with patients and their families to gather insights on their needs, skills, interests, and limitations for effective treatment planning.
- Design, organize, and execute activities within the treatment framework to facilitate patient progress towards their therapeutic goals.
- Develop and implement a diverse activities program tailored to the treatment objectives.
- Lead engaging activity sessions aimed at enhancing the mental and physical health of patients.
- Instruct patients in various activities and techniques, including sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation methods, tailored to their individual needs.
- Create and execute treatment plans that incorporate activity interventions aligning with patient interests and therapeutic goals.
- Encourage patient participation in therapeutic activities such as exercise, games, and community outings.
- Assist patients in acquiring social skills necessary for independence.
- Adapt activities to meet the specific needs of different groups.
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor towards all patients, addressing their needs and resolving any complaints promptly, while prioritizing patient safety.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field that qualifies for national certification.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or in the process of obtaining national certification; OR certification in a specialized area (Art, Dance, Music, etc.) OR clinical licensure (LCPC, LPC, etc.) with certification in expressive therapy.
- First Aid, CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification are required (training provided upon hire).
COMPENSATION:
Compensation for positions at Acadia Healthcare varies based on several factors, including location, role, skill set, and experience level. The hourly compensation range for this role is competitive and reflects relevant work experience.
