Position Overview

As a Mainframe Systems Configuration Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing the configuration of all mainframe-related hardware across our data centers. This includes mainframes, disk storage, virtual tape, and SAN switches. Your responsibilities will encompass hardware upgrades, replacements, and troubleshooting to maintain operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement mainframe hardware systems tailored to our global infrastructure requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware malfunctions to ensure peak performance and reliability.
  • Monitor system performance metrics and make adjustments to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system administrators, and IT professionals to ensure cohesive operation of hardware and software systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of hardware configurations, modifications, and maintenance activities, including connectivity diagrams.
  • Utilize the IOCP mainframe to define and manage input and output configurations effectively.
  • Engage in data center relocations, client migrations, and disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in mainframe hardware and software engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience with mainframe hardware components, system architecture, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with standard networking protocols and components, including HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, subnetting, and load balancing strategies.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Specialist) are a plus.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $99,400.00 to $138,500.00. Note that pay ranges may vary based on location and specific roles.
