Civil Project Manager (Traffic)

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is on the lookout for a Civil Project Manager to enhance our traffic engineering division. Our team in Dallas, Texas, is composed of highly skilled professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional services to our clients.

Ideal Candidate: The successful applicant will possess a minimum of five (5) years of comprehensive traffic engineering experience, including but not limited to traffic impact assessments, operational analysis, signal design, and transportation planning for site development. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and support team members effectively. A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or the capability to secure one within six months is mandatory, while a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of detailed construction drawings for traffic control devices, including signals, signage, and pavement markings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Collaborate with a team to conduct traffic engineering studies, performing technical analyses for projects of varying sizes and complexities.
  • Draft clear and concise technical reports and documentation, ensuring all supporting analyses are included.
  • Develop traffic control plans and management strategies.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables through the implementation of QA/QC procedures.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of diverse traffic engineering projects.
  • Engage with other disciplines, support services, and subconsultants.
  • Coordinate with governmental agencies and utility providers.
  • Communicate effectively with clients based on project roles.
  • Interpret applicable codes and standards for design requirements.
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Utilize specialized traffic engineering software for analyses.
  • Analyze traffic safety data and conduct field observations related to traffic operations.
  • Participate in public hearings and client meetings.
  • Represent the firm in discussions with governmental agencies.
  • Manage schedules for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and proposals for traffic engineering initiatives.
  • Review and approve project billings.
  • Supervise production staff as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil3D, Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, and Microsoft Office.
  • Competence in national design standards.
  • Ability to develop constructive relationships with clients and public agencies.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Texas or capable of obtaining within six months.
  • Over five years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.

Preferred Experience:

  • PTOE certification.
  • Experience in project management duties.
  • Strong presentation skills and previous supervisory experience.
