About the Role
The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the receipt, classification, storage, care, distribution, requisitioning, and inventory of materials, tools, supplies, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the receipt and storage of incoming shipments to ensure accurate inventory levels and efficient distribution.
- Supervise the receiving process to ensure all goods are stored properly or delivered promptly to the user.
- Inspect all incoming shipments to ensure requested quantity is received and in good condition.
- Coordinate with vendors to discuss deliveries, shipments, shortages, and other issues.
- Maintain accurate inventory management using computerized systems and bar-coding technology.
- Prepare lists of surplus, obsolete, or obsolescent materials and arrange for their transfer or disposition.
- Take necessary precautions to protect stock from deterioration or spoilage.
- Supervise the loading, unloading, and dispatching of trucks.
- Participate in the loading and unloading of goods at the storehouse and at the point of pickup, delivery, or distribution.
- Operate equipment as needed to perform loading and unloading tasks.
- Keep accurate records and prepare reports as needed.
Requirements
- Two years of full-time satisfactory experience performing storekeeping activities, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
