Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to serve as the Chairperson of the Visual & Performing Arts Department at North Carolina A&T State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department's academic programs, overseeing faculty and staff, and contributing to the university's mission of providing high-quality education and research opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Visual & Performing Arts Department in achieving its academic and research goals
  • Oversee the department's curriculum development, accreditation, and assessment processes
  • Manage the department's budget, personnel, and facilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the department's reputation and visibility
  • Collaborate with other departments and units across the university to promote interdisciplinary research and education
  • Engage in teaching, research, and service activities that contribute to the department's and university's mission
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or terminal degree in the discipline (MFA)
  • Significant administrative and teaching experience, preferably in a higher-education environment
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated excellence in teaching and creative/research activities in theater, music, or visual arts
