Production Supervisor Job Summary

The Production Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the department, ensuring alignment with cost, profit, and production goals. This role involves training and developing employees, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and working under the supervision of a manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the production operation of multiple departments and shifts.
  • Lead a team of employees, motivating them for maximum productivity.
  • Identify, research, and resolve various problems and opportunities.
  • Evaluate the performance of individuals and programs.
  • Coach and counsel employees.
  • Manage activities consistent with UFP policies, procedures, and applicable law.
  • Communicate with employees and other management members as required.
  • Manage cost and profitability of the department.
  • Manage department inventory.
  • Lead employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records as required.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee and ensure compliance with established safety standards.
Requirements:
  • Post-high school education is required.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.
  • Working knowledge of production reporting and production scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business software.
  • Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
  • Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Successfully complete Forklift Driver licensing process.
