The Production Department Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of its department, ensuring alignment with cost, profit, and production goals. Key Responsibilities- Manage the production operation of multiple departments and shifts, ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Lead a team of employees, motivating them to achieve their full potential and contribute to the department's success.
- Identify, research, and resolve various problems and opportunities, evaluating performance and implementing solutions.
- Coach and counsel employees, providing guidance and support to help them grow professionally.
- Manage activities in accordance with UFP Industries' policies, procedures, and applicable laws, ensuring compliance and adherence.
- Communicate effectively with employees and other management members, providing regular updates and feedback.
- Manage departmental costs and profitability, making informed decisions to optimize performance.
- Oversee departmental inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and management.
- Lead employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives, promoting a culture of excellence and safety.
- Prepare reports and maintain records as required, providing data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
- Participate in the Safety Committee, ensuring the department meets established safety standards.
- Perform other duties as required, adapting to changing needs and priorities.
- Post-high school education is required.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, with 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.
- Working knowledge of production reporting and production scheduling.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business software.
- Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
- Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Successful completion of Forklift Driver licensing process.
