Position Overview:

The Program Chair is accountable for overseeing the academic and operational excellence of the Applied Behavior Analysis programs. This role reports directly to the Division Chair and involves a range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing student success and program integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

  • Act as a representative for the department at various meetings and events to foster collaboration and promote program visibility.
  • Work with university leadership to devise and implement strategies for community outreach to boost student enrollment.
  • Identify and engage with communities to establish and nurture partnerships that align with program goals.
  • Document community relationships and assess specific needs to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborate with community providers to create practical training opportunities.

Student Engagement:

  • Address student inquiries and concerns promptly to support retention and satisfaction.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at student development, ensuring they meet academic standards and progress effectively.
  • Encourage student participation in research and community service to enrich their educational experience.
  • Collaborate with university leaders to reduce student attrition rates.

Academic Management:

  • Recruit and manage a diverse faculty team in line with budgetary constraints and institutional needs.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and innovative teaching methods.
  • Implement a systematic approach for mentoring and evaluating faculty to ensure high standards of teaching and student achievement.
  • Encourage faculty involvement in scholarly activities and professional development.

Academic Delivery:

  • Ensure that the curriculum aligns with the competencies required by the university and industry standards.
  • Teach a designated number of credits per academic year, depending on administrative duties.
  • Supervise student research projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to academic standards.
  • Coordinate with division leadership to create course schedules that enhance the student experience.
  • Explore the integration of innovative instructional technologies to improve curriculum delivery.

Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in behavior analysis, psychology, education, or a related field.
  • BCBA-D certification is required.
  • State licensure as a behavior analyst, if applicable.
  • Experience in academic administration and graduate-level teaching is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of administrative experience in higher education settings.
