The Program Chair is accountable for overseeing the academic and operational effectiveness of the programs and locations under their jurisdiction, reporting directly to the Division Chair.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Involvement:
- Act as a representative for the department at various meetings and events to foster collaborative decision-making and enhance student engagement.
- Collaborate with university leadership to formulate and implement a strategy for community outreach aimed at increasing awareness and attracting new students.
- Identify and cultivate relationships within diverse communities to address specific needs and promote program offerings.
- Document and monitor community relationships and needs through partnership initiatives and student recruitment efforts.
- Establish training partnerships with community organizations.
- Execute outreach plans that align with university objectives.
Student Engagement:
- Ensure prompt and effective resolution of student concerns to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- Lead initiatives focused on student development, including monitoring academic progress and representing the department in institutional committees.
- Encourage student participation in scholarly activities and community service beyond the campus.
- Work alongside university leaders to reduce student attrition rates.
Academic Oversight:
- Recruit, hire, and manage a diverse faculty in accordance with budgetary constraints and institutional needs.
- Foster an inclusive faculty environment that welcomes diverse perspectives and innovation.
- Implement a structured, data-driven approach for mentoring and evaluating faculty performance to ensure student success.
- Encourage faculty involvement in scholarship and service through professional organizations and academic contributions.
Curriculum Delivery:
- Ensure that the curriculum aligns with the competencies required by the university, employers, and accrediting bodies.
- Teach up to 12 credits per academic year, depending on administrative responsibilities.
- Supervise student research as Thesis or Dissertation Chair, ensuring timely completion.
- Collaborate with division leadership to create course schedules that enhance the student experience.
- Explore opportunities to integrate new instructional technologies into the curriculum.
Basic Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in behavior analysis, education, psychology, or a related field.
- BCBA-D certification.
- Licensure as a behavior analyst as required by the applicant's home state.
- Experience in academic administration and graduate-level teaching is highly desirable.
- 1-3 years of administrative experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience and vision for fostering community partnerships.
- A strategic thinker capable of providing innovative solutions for departmental growth.
- An inspiring leader who motivates faculty to prioritize student engagement and success.
- Adept at balancing institutional priorities with departmental initiatives.
This position offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $100,000, with additional factors influencing total compensation. Comprehensive benefits include generous paid time off, medical and dental insurance, life and disability coverage, a retirement plan with employer contributions, and tuition reimbursement.
