Job Overview

As a vital member of our financial team at Mid-State Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, the Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in managing patient accounts and ensuring accurate billing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with patients or their representatives via phone or in-person to discuss account balances.
  • Process insurance claims and apply payments to patient accounts accurately.
  • Handle incoming billing inquiries and return calls from the voicemail system.
  • Monitor and respond to billing-related emails promptly.
  • Review patient accounts and provide clear explanations regarding billing details.
  • Address any discrepancies in insurance claims and initiate re-billing as necessary.
  • Identify and rectify posting errors to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Facilitate patient payments over the phone and ensure proper posting to accounts.
  • Update patient addresses when necessary to ensure correct billing.
  • Document all actions taken on patient accounts for transparency and record-keeping.
  • Assist in resolving denied claims and prepare appeals when required.
  • Provide support to the Collection Account Representative as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, colleagues, management, and healthcare providers.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Manager to foster teamwork.
