Position Overview:
This role involves the assessment, treatment, and education of patients across various age groups who are experiencing physical challenges due to disabilities, injuries, or medical conditions. The Physical Therapist plays a crucial role in helping individuals achieve their highest potential and reintegrate into their communities.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver direct patient care to enhance the effectiveness of physical therapy interventions while adhering to established safety protocols.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients and develop tailored treatment plans aimed at achieving specific rehabilitation goals.
- Administer physician-recommended physical therapy treatments to assist patients in regaining optimal functionality.
- Manage patient caseloads efficiently to maximize treatment effectiveness and resource utilization.
- Utilize appropriate therapeutic modalities to improve or alleviate physical disabilities, while also suggesting alternative treatment options when necessary.
- Identify contraindications to ongoing treatment and collaborate with the supervising physician as needed.
- Engage family members or caregivers in the treatment and discharge planning processes.
- Interpret and apply age-specific requirements to meet each patient's unique needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation to effectively communicate patients' progress to physicians, insurance providers, and caregivers.
- Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care and cost-effective treatment programs, while also providing education for home exercise regimens.

- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited physical therapy program. Preferred: Master's Degree or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).
- Preferred: One year of relevant work experience.
- Preferred: Experience with electronic medical records and in specialized areas such as orthopedics, neurology, and vestibular disorders.
Essential Skills:
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to adapt and extend efforts to meet patient and departmental needs.
- In-depth knowledge of physical therapy practices and equipment to ensure patient safety and benefit.
Licensure Requirements:
- Possession of an active Physical Therapist License in New York State or eligibility for a temporary permit.
Work Environment:
This position may involve significant manual dexterity and exposure to various occupational risks.
