Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to oversee the business operations of the Patient Access Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a smooth entry of patients to departmental services, maintaining timely and accurate business information, and guaranteeing payment of services rendered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Recruit, supervise, train, and discipline staff to ensure effective departmental operations.
    • Prepare performance reports to evaluate staff performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Operational Management
    • Manage day-to-day activities of personnel to ensure timely registration of patients, accurate data entry of patient biographical and financial information, and proper payment collection.
    • Review records to ensure that each patient was properly verified for insurance purposes and that proper information was written on each patient's chart prior to clinic date.
  • Expertise and Guidance
    • Serve as department expert on registration, insurance verifications, and documentation guidelines.
    • Provide guidance and support to staff on departmental policies and procedures.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Assist in the development and implementation of the department's annual budget.
    • Work with upper management to generate strategy and operational initiatives, and policies.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Maintain current knowledge of rules and regulations and educate staff on any variations.
    • Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration or healthcare management.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or business operations setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes
    • Knowledge of business and management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
    • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
    • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
    • Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and/or supervise the work of others.
    • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
