Pediatric Anesthesiology Specialist

Job Summary:
The Department of Anesthesiology at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Anesthesiology Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional anesthetic and critical care to our patients, advancing research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, and training the next generation of anesthesiologists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide preanesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthetic care, postoperative rounds, resuscitation, and intensive care to patients at VCU Health.
- Direct the activities of nurse anesthetists as assigned by the Department Chair or delegate.
- Teach and mentor residents, medical students, student nurse anesthetists, and others in a clinical setting.
- Pursue clinical or laboratory research and other scholarly interests independently, within the guidelines of the Institution and Department.
- Participate in clinical trials depending on interest and area of specialization.
- Serve on various departmental, School of Medicine, University, or VCU Health System committees as requested by the Chair or determined via individual interest.
Requirements:
- MD or DO degree.
- ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification.
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
- Eligible for employment in the United States.
- Good communication, clinical, and teaching skills.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
