Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to provide both administrative and clinical support in our medical facility. The successful candidate will handle front office tasks, assist with patient care, and ensure that the clinic runs smoothly by supporting physicians and clinical staff. This role requires excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Phone Management: Answer multi-line phone systems, screen and route calls, and take messages for clinic staff and physicians.
    • Appointment Scheduling: Schedule and modify patient appointments for both new and returning patients. Coordinate consultations with external clinics or specialists as needed.
    • Patient Reception: Greet patients upon arrival and direct them to the waiting room. Communicate any unexpected delays in appointment times to manage patient expectations.
    • Data Collection: Collect patient demographic information and insurance details. Ensure all necessary signatures are obtained for conditions of registration.
    • Authorization & Payment: Identify services that require authorization based on the payer type and communicate payment and authorization requirements to patients. Collect co-pays and post payments accurately.
    • Record Maintenance: Maintain records in line with clinic guidelines, file and retrieve chart documents, and prepare patient charts. Utilize scheduling reports as needed to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Room & Equipment Preparation: Prepare necessary equipment and supplies for patient exams. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked exam room, ensuring hallways and work areas are also tidy.
    • Patient Escort & Vitals: Escort patients to exam rooms, measure vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature), and record results.
    • Patient Preparation & Explanations: Prepare patients for examinations or treatments and perform routine screening tests. Clearly explain treatment procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
    • Reporting & Documentation: Report any patient concerns, symptoms, or reactions to the licensed clinic personnel. Accurately document all clinical information and maintain complete patient documentation in line with professional standards.
    • Assistance with Procedures: Assist physicians in setting up for procedures, conducting patient examinations, and providing treatments. Administer medications via intradermal, subcutaneous, or intramuscular injections, perform skin tests, venipunctures, and other technical services under supervision.
    • Specimen Collection & Lab Coordination: Collect specimens and send them to the appropriate labs for testing according to protocol.
    • Prescription Refill Management: Process prescription refill requests in accordance with clinic procedures.
Requirements
  • Medical Assistant certification or relevant clinical training preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
