Work schedule: Monday-Friday from 7am-4pm

Position Overview

As a key member of the Electric Department, you will report directly to the Electric Department Director. Your primary responsibility will be to manage all Geographical Information System (GIS) activities for the department, which includes maintaining database integrity and ensuring network/web accessibility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of GIS system hardware and software
  • Troubleshoot and resolve GIS system-related issues
  • Provide technical assistance to department personnel
  • Update and manage the GIS database
  • Collect and analyze GPS data
  • Develop and maintain web-based mapping solutions
  • Research and evaluate GIS software applications
  • Supervise GIS interns and manage additional assigned tasks

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of computer hardware and software, particularly ArcGIS and ArcSDE
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Proficiency in using handheld GPS devices
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems, MS Office, and other standard software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and the public

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess a one-year certificate from a college or technical institution, along with two to three years of experience in AutoCAD, GIS, and drafting, or equivalent education and experience. A valid driver's license is required.

Physical Requirements

This position may involve occasional standing or walking, frequent sitting, using hands, reaching, talking, and hearing, lifting up to 50 pounds, working near moving machinery, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The work environment may be moderately noisy or loud in certain situations.
