Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Financial Analyst performs a variety of financial functions. The Financial Analyst will assist in the development of the capital and operating budgets and publish various financial reports to the management team.
The Financial Analyst will assist in the preparation and submission of the daily/weekly/monthly statistical/financial information internally and to external agencies.
The analyst will also participate along with the Accounting Manager in the development, facilitation and implementation of financial planning of the hospital, and assist with the maintenance of the cost accounting system.
Will support the Accounting Manager as needed with month-end closing and account reconciliation.
Essential Responsibilities- Participates in the development of the capital and operating budgets via the decision support system.
- Completes imports of data and publishing of financial reports to the management team.
- Utilizes the decision support system for annual and monthly patient level management analyses.
- Manages imports and creates a report set for review by the management team.
- Completes various monthly functions related to the close process.
- Ad-hoc financial analyses and projects.
- Utilizes decision support tools (cost accounting, budgeting and reporting software).
- Prepares and facilitates annual budget process with the Accounting Manager and monthly reporting to management team.
- Assists with special financial projects on an ongoing basis.
- Assists with various financial statements, cost reports, statistic reports and surveys.
- Assists with auditing process by providing information and assistance to external auditors for audit reviews.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual tax return and other required documents to support outside regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assists in the budgeting and reporting of Hospital grants.
- Performs other financial functions as needed.
Bachelors in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
At least 2 years in Accounting and/or Business Management in a profit/nonprofit environment, healthcare preferred, but not required.
Strong background in analytics, decision support systems and procedures development preferred.
Experience and proficiency with computers and moderate to advanced Excel skills.
Excellent motivational skills as well as the ability to be a change agent.
